Our extensive research shows there is a substantial communication and compliance gap between consumers and debt collectors. This accounts for the thousands of documented complaints to Better Business Bureaus, the FTC and other groups - even when consumers previously contacted debt collectors.

Consumers are suffering from a lack of relief, education and protection.

While the FTC and other business, legal and consumer groups advocate that you should protect your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and/or state and/or local laws, our in-depth research continuously demonstrated that consumers:

  • Thumbs UpOften Relied Upon Conversations Which Debt Collectors “Forgot About
  • Recorded Conversations Which Sometimes Violated Party Rights
  • Wrote Letters with No Response from Debt Collectors
  • Did Not Know What to Write
  • Did Not Understand Response Time Requirements
  • Did Not Have the Time To Write
  • Were Often Afraid of Debt Collectors
  • Did Not Want Confrontations with Debt Collectors
  • Were Not Persistent

DebtResponse™ eliminates all of these problems and produces better and more efficient results than doing this work yourself. We professionally prepare and document communications between you and collectors using certified mail, certified email, fax and air express to help you obtain speedy compliance to your requests or demands – producing quick, long lasting relief and protection.

We know that consumer debts are often collected by two or more successive debt collectors - with each collector often becoming more aggressive. For example, after a credit card debt is charged-off from an original lender such as a bank, it is not unusual for the claim to cycle between 2 or 3 collectors before it may be sold to investors or directly to collection lawyers.

In fact, the “no contact” time between collectors often seems like the collection process has stopped, only to soon start again – same claim, different collector.

YOUR DEBTS CAN BE IN “PLAY” FOR 1-3 YEARS

We also realize that you may now have more than one collection claim, or possibly several in the future, so CPI has developed DebtResponse accordingly. For example, you may have one or several credit cards in collection now, and possibly other credit cards or debts continuing from Debt Settlement Programs, possibly returning to collection from incomplete Debt Management Programs or failed bankruptcies.

Because the entire collection cycle can last one or more years it is important to apply CPI's exclusive and unique tools to continuously protect you from harassment and efficiently dispute collector claims.

Some tips for working with debt collectors

  1. Writing - get everything in writing.
  2. Do Not Reveal - social security numbers or other personal information.
  3. Dispute - anything that does not look correct - while in dispute the collector can't contact you.
  4. Identify Theft - look for identify theft - this is a reason for a dispute.
  5. Make Notes - about collector conversations and times they call -
send them to CPI to update your profile (home, work, family, friends) for corroboration.
  6. Threats - write down all threats and send them to CPI to update your profile.
  7. Payment Plans - if you made a payment plan use CPI's DebtPayoff to make sure you are protected.
  8. Record Conversations - but first check state laws.
